This summer has been great for the Hyundai brand. Last month, Hyundai was ranked highest among non-luxury brands in J.D. Power 2014 Initial Quality Study (IQS) and now it has been named the best mainstream brand in J.D. Power’s Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) Study. This is the first time any brand has earned both awards in the same year.
In addition to the Hyundai brand winning the overall award in the APEAL study, the Accent earned the highest rating among small cars. The Sonata and Veloster also performed well, with the Sonata coming in third place just two points behind the winner, and the Veloster finishing in second.
“We are so pleased to see the recognition that Accent has received in this year’s J.D. Power APEAL study,” said Mike O’Brien, vice president, corporate and product planning, Hyundai Motor America, in a statement. “And it’s especially gratifying coming on the heels of our best-ever IQS showing just one month ago.”
