Taking care of a baby is hard work and there is a lot we all need to do to help keep them healthy and safe. With September being recognized as Baby Safety Month, we want to share a few tips on keeping your baby safe in the car.
The simplest way to keep your baby safe in the car is by using a rear-facing child seat. But did you know that many parents unknowingly install their child’s car seat incorrectly? According to the CDC, in one study, more than 70% of child seats were installed wrong. Before you put the car seat in the car, make sure your read the installation instructions. You can also have the seat inspected by a professional (many fire and police departments do this) to make sure it is correct. Be sure to keep your child rear-facing until he or she is two years old.
Another way to keep your baby safe in the car is by never leaving them alone in the car. Every year we hear about babies and toddlers dying because they were accidentally left in a hot car. This usually happens when parents get distracted or their routine has changed for some reason. To help remind you to always check the back seat, put your purse, wallet, or phone in the back seat so you have to reach back there to get it.
And, of course, the safety features installed in your vehicle help to keep baby safe, too. Come check out the Hyundai lineup today and we’ll show you how the high-tech safety features can help keep you and your family safe.
